Absolute Painting recently completed a project in Lawrence, KS, repainting the exterior of historic homeowner Stella Provias’ home. We provided a personalized color consultation with Rynette Designs resulting in amazing colors, including a custom gold accent. We utilized top-quality exterior paints and followed a time-tested prep and paint process.
Stella’s experience with the last painting company wasn’t so great. So, she expected us to exceed her expectations.
Despite obstacles, we completed the project within two weeks, providing Stella with a WOW painting experience. We are proud of our detailed hand painting and the positive feedback from Stella.
Our approach for this project was focused on quality (as always), while providing a painting experience that was enjoyable and stress-free for Stella. We believe that our careful preparation, top-quality paints, and a team of exterior home painters made all the difference in delivering a beautiful and long-lasting finish that revitalized her historic home into a stunning masterpiece.
The first step was to ensure the surface of the home was properly prepared. We used Lead-safe Work Practices to safely remove all loose and peeling paint. This involved carefully scraping and cleaning the surface of the home to remove any old or damaged paint. This was done to ensure a smooth and even surface to apply new paint. We also sanded the surface to ensure it was clean and free of debris.
After the surface was prepared, we applied an oil-based primer over all bare wood. This was done to ensure that the paint adhered properly to the surface and that it was protected from the elements. We also caulked all seams, windows, and doors to prevent moisture from penetrating the surface.
Once the surface was primed, we applied top-quality paints in Stella’s chosen colors. We took great care to ensure that the highest level of detail was provided for her accent colors. Our team of expert exterior home painters applied the paint using the latest techniques and equipment, ensuring a beautiful and long-lasting finish.
After the painting was complete, we performed a final inspection to ensure that everything met our high standards. This involved checking for any imperfections or areas that needed touch-ups. We made sure that every detail was perfect and that Stella was completely satisfied with the final result.

Looking back on this residential exterior repainting project, we would have approached it differently if we could start over. Specifically, we would have tried to perform the work earlier in the painting season.
As it turned out, we were up against colder weather, which made the painting process more challenging. Fortunately, we were able to complete the exterior before the painting season ended, but we would have preferred a more optimal weather condition to ensure seamless execution.
As experienced home exterior painters, we learned an important lesson from this project, which is to be more mindful of the timing and weather conditions when planning a project. We are committed to continuously improving our approach to deliver exceptional results for all our clients.
