Hello, this is Mike with Absolute Painting. I want to talk to you a little bit today about choosing the exterior colors when you repaint the outside of your home. Now, there’s a couple of things you want to keep in mind. Number one, your color type. There’s a couple of different types that you can choose from. Number one, earth tones. These are going to be your browns, and tans, and these are nice colors if you want to go with something fairly common or neutral. You can use a white trim with it. You can use a darker trim in a similar tone. It’s always going to turn out nice. Number two, you can use a cooler tone or a neutral, like grays and whites. Grays are nice, especially paired with a white trim, makes the house look very stately.
The third option
The third option is to use a brighter color or a bolder color, like the primary colors, reds, blues, and yellows. This is a little bit more difficult to pull off, but if you have the right type of house and the right type of personality, you can get it done. The other thing to remember is the way to place the colors on your home. Typically, most of the time what we see is that a person chooses a body color, that’s the main color of the house, it’s going to be on your siding and on your soffits. The second is a trim color. That’s going to be on your corner boards, your window and door trim, and the fascia boards, and perhaps the gutters of your home. The third option is an accent color. This will typically go on your front door.
Add a splash of extra color
Now, if you would like to add a splash of extra color to your house and you don’t already have shutters, buying inexpensive shutters that are plastic from Home Depot is a great way to add a little splash of vibrant color to your house. It’s easy to paint them down and then go ahead and install them later. The thing that you want to make sure is that you order the right length of shutters for your windows. Now, if you’re looking at painting the exterior of your home and you don’t have time to do it yourself, or you just don’t want to climb the ladder, give Absolute Painting a call.
